WASHINGTON – The Americans for Prosperity Foundation’s Ending Earmarks Express, a nationwide road tour of lawmakers’ questionable pet projects, will kick off its sixth leg on Tuesday, September 19 in Houston, Texas, visiting a total of four states and eight earmarks next week. The grassroots bus tour, which began its inaugural swing on April 7th, has so far traveled over 9,000 miles to 33 states and 41 earmarks literally worth billions in hard-earned tax dollars. At the end of this swing, the Ending Earmarks Express will have achieved its goal of visiting the site of 50 earmarks and will have visited a total of 37 states.

The grassroots bus tour, which began its inaugural swing on April 7th, has so far traveled over 7,000 miles to 28 states and 34 earmarks literally worth billions in hard-earned tax dollars.

We began the day in Albuquerque, NM, then drove about five hours across the desert - past the National Petrified Forest, Meteor Crater and even a corner in Winslow, Arizona, to Flagstaff for our second event of the day. Now we're on the road to Vegas, baby, Vegas, for tomorrow's event spotlighting an earmark to study mariachi music.

We kicked things off this afternoon outside Preservation Maryland in downtown Baltimore, where we questioned $200,000 earmark that U.S. Rep. Steny Hoyer secured last year for the restoration of old tobacco barns in Southern Maryland.
